Frederick emerges from the background with quiet strength; darkness and obscurity gradually changing into light and recognition. “Frederick” suggests a message of hope. Doris’ award-winning studio portrait communicates character and meaning through the play of light and shadow, as well as the expression on the subject’s face.
Doris Bailey Spencer is an avid photographer and photo historian. Doris’ training in photography began with her dad’s Argus C3, 35mm camera— a German-made camera that had no light meter. Doris became a keen observer of light and learned to manually adjust the lens aperture for the best exposure.
Through studies at Ivy Tech Community College, Doris benefited from formal training in photography and photo restoration/editing. While a Creative Memories Consultant, Doris enjoyed helping others tell their stories and discover their inner creative through scrapbooking.
