studio portrait

Doris' award-winning studio portrait communicates character and meaning through the play of light and shadow as well as the expression on the subject's face. Frederick emerges from the background with quiet strength; darkness and obscurity gradually changing into light and recognition. "Frederick" suggests a message of hope.

Photo Restoration

Photo Restoration services by Sustainabella Design can breathe new life into treasured photos. In the photo above, Photoshop tools removed dust specks and scratches and returned the yellow-tinted, aged color back to the original crisp color.

Technical Training

Doris Bailey Spencer is an avid photographer and photo historian. Doris' training in photography began with her Dad's Argus C3, 35mm camera, a German-made camera that was used to take the photo above. Because the Argus C3 had no light meter, Doris became a keen observer of light and learned to manually adjust the lens aperture. Through experience and formal classroom training, Doris has continued to sharpen her photography skills.

Photo Description

In this photo featured above and on the home page, Doris' sister and nephew, from a bygone day, comtemplate the grandeur of a West Virginia mountain overlook. This overlook gives a birdseye view of Aunt Jenny's large, lovingly-cultivated garden on the other side of the river.
